I don't want to make another person carry my expectations.
Q — Can expectations hurt the people you love?
I don't want to make another person carry my expectations.
If I start thinking, “I did this much for you, so you should give this much back,” my love starts turning into something heavy.
I don't want to be self-righteous or pushy about it.
At the same time, I don't want to forget what other people have done for me.
I still catch myself sometimes and think, “Damn, that wasn't how I want to live.”
When that happens, I apologize.
Then I try to show what I mean through what I do next.
That's about all I can do.
I don't want to make another person carry my expectations.
